Chronicles of a Desperate Dad is published as a weekly newspaper
column. The average number of words in the column is 610, with
a minimum of 600 and a maximum of 620. So far over 150 Desperate
Dad columns have been published, running continuously from September
2003.
It is written in ‘real time’ and so reflects all the
normal events of family life throughout the year – summer
holidays, back to school, Christmas, birthdays and so on.
The
column is also personalised to the paper and town in which it
appears. While the trials and tribulations of being a Dad are
the same whether you’re in Ayr, Torquay, Cardiff or Grimsby,
the performance of the local football team certainly isn’t.
So while Desperate Dad would currently be feeling fairly pleased
with life in his column in the Cardiff paper, it wouldn’t
be quite the same in the Grimsby Evening Telegraph.
